Make sure your houseplants don't get thirsty next time you go on vacation. Take a cotton shoelace, cut off the ends, and soak it in a bowl of water.
Then, push one end of the shoelace into the soil deep enough to be near the plant's roots. Leave the other end in the water bowl, and water will travel through the cotton to the plant.
