Improving soil structure

• All soil improvers can be added as a mulch or dug into the top 6" which is the main feeding area for the plant roots.
• Use a wooden plank from which to dig. Do not stand or walk on the soil, since compacted soil has little air, which makes it difficult for the roots to penerate.
• Dig only when necessary, because overdigging can destroy soil structure.
• Keel the soil covered with a mulch to maintain soil structure.
• Do not overfertilize. If you do, the plant will produce lots of lush top growth, but no flowers and therefore no fruit. Also lush growth encourage pest.
