Your will need:
Wooden tray
Fine sandpaper
Diluted non-toxic PVA ( white ) glue
Non-toxic white paint
Non-toxic bright paint
Sicssors
Thin paper in variety of colours
Pencil
Non-toxic clear gloss varnish ( optional )
Method:
1. Rub down the surface of the wooden tray with fine sandpaper. Seal the tray with a coat of diluted PVA glue.
2. Prime the tray with a coat of white paint and allow to dry.
3. Paint the tray with two coats of bright paint and allow to dry thoroughly.
4. Cut mosaic squares from sheets of brightly coloured thin paper. Dip each in diluted PVA glue and use a paintbrush to stick in place around the tray.
5. Draw and cut a bird shape from paper and stick it in place in the center of the tray. Add details cut from contrasting paper and allow the tray to dry overnight.
6. Seal the tray with several coats of diluted PVA glue or clear gloss varnish.
